No emailed applications
Greenville is the Greenville County seat, and a new business must hold a city license before it starts operating. Any required state licensing comes first; the application asks for your State LLR license number and its expiration date.
The application cannot be emailed. Mail it to P.O. Box 2207, fax it to 864-467-5715, or drop it at the Revenue Division, 204 Halton Road. New applicants estimate gross receipts for the rest of the year, and renewals report last calendar year's total. You can figure the tax with the city's online calculator or the worksheet on the form.
Contractors get specific rules. Each general or prime contractor files a list of subcontractors, with scope of work, contact details and contract amount for each project. Resident businesses can deduct gross already licensed by another municipality if they attach a paid copy of that application.
Licenses expire April 30, and renewals must be paid in full by the last day of April to avoid penalties. Resident businesses get a 2% discount for filing by March 31, never below the base fee. Card payments add a 2.65% service fee. Help is at 864-467-4505, option 2.
