Licensing in Winter Springs
Winter Springs isn't a one-stop city. You'll need its receipt and a separate Seminole County receipt. Get the City's first so zoning is cleared before you visit the Tax Collector.
Even a one-person company or a home-based business pays. Each location needs its own receipt, and the receipt has to be posted where the public and a Field Compliance Officer can see it.
There are four categories: home-based or commercial, each regulated or non-regulated. Home businesses sign a notarized Residential BTR Affidavit, and commercial ones add a supplemental form.
Some applications need extra review, which the City says can take 24 to 48 hours. If your business involves transient or itinerant solicitation, it also needs City permitting and a Code Enforcement review. Receipts expire September 30, and renewal notices go out in July. Renewing after October 1 adds a 10% penalty for October, then 5% a month, up to 25%.
Renewals can be done online in the Civic Access portal using three details from your renewal notice, or by mailing the notice back with a check or money order. If you hold several accounts, send every notice. If you move out of the city, tell the City so it can close the account. A licensed trade that changes its name or ownership needs an updated state certificate before the receipt can transfer. City Hall is at 1126 East State Road 434.

- Junk removal Each yard or lot you run from needs its own receipt. List the locations you dispatch from.
- Home watch Working from home? Sign the notarized residential affidavit and keep clients' keys secure.
