Oviedo business tax
Oviedo issues one Business Tax Receipt on behalf of both the City and Seminole County, through Development Services. Non-regulated businesses pay $25 and regulated ones $45, and new applicants starting between April 1 and September 30 may get 50% off.
Receipts expire September 30. Late renewals follow the state schedule: 10% in October, 15% in November, 20% in December and 25% after that. Home businesses are issued as an office of convenience, and the City offers Wednesday pre-application meetings booked a week ahead.
Permits are filed online and must be complete before they're accepted. Most applications are notarized, and a contractor who lets an employee sign must provide a site-specific notarized power of attorney.
Lakefront owners should know that boat docks and ramps need signed and sealed engineered plans with wind design data, and must meet the dimensional rules in Article IV, Section 4.15 of the City's Land Development Code.
