Walton County, Georgia
Monroe websites for Walton County service pros
Monroe wants three notarized affidavits with every occupational tax application, and it sends the invoice by email.
Three notarized forms
Monroe is the Walton County seat, and its Code Department handles occupational tax certificates out of City Hall at 215 N. Broad Street. The city's business guide is plain about it: operating without a certificate is subject to a legal penalty, and a city certificate means you do not also need a county one.
The June 2025 application checklist asks for a signed and notarized business license affidavit, a notarized SAVE affidavit and a notarized E-Verify affidavit. Invoices go out by email, so a current address matters, and once issued they can be paid online. The form asks for gross receipts: last year's for a renewal, or start-of-business to year end for a new firm. Practitioners may elect to pay $400 each.
The guide says certificates are paid and renewed by March 1. A second location may need its own certificate, and each trade name needs a separate one. You should license before opening, though a new business may do it within its first 30 days.
Certificates transfer only when the holder moves within Monroe city limits; tell the business license clerk first. Nonprofits register but pay no tax. Questions go to the code office at (770) 207-4674.
