Licenses don't transfer

Newberry is in Newberry County, about 43 miles northwest of Columbia. If you run a business, practice a profession or keep an office inside the city, you need a Newberry license. The cost depends on your industry code and your gross income, and the city posts its rate schedule and full ordinance online. A Newberry license lapses on April 30, and the penalty-free renewal window opens January 1. Sold a controlling share of the company? The license stays with the old owners, so the new majority owners apply fresh.
