Sebring basics
Highlands County repealed its occupational license and business tax ordinance on July 24, 2006, so there's no county receipt. Cities in the county, including Sebring, can still issue their own, and the City's Building page lists its Local Business Tax application.
Sebring has no online permit portal. All building applications are emailed to the Building Department, and the City no longer reviews engineers' plans without an application, the contractor's information and a complete scope of work.
The Building page also hosts contractor registration, a roofing pictures checklist, a roll-off container application, mold information and private provider procedures, which is worth knowing before you quote a job.
Private providers can handle plan review and inspections if they register with the City and follow its audit procedure. Avon Park and Lake Placid are the county's other municipalities that may issue their own receipts, so check with whichever town you're based in.
