Vero Beach requirements
In Vero Beach the Planning Department issues local business tax receipts, and every business selling goods or services needs one, including one-person and home-based businesses. Renewals are payable July 1 through September 30, in person at 1036 20th Street, by phone or by mail.
The application form notes that new or changed signs need permits through Planning, and that internal modifications need a building permit from the Indian River County Building Department.
That county division also handles contractor licensing for the City. A state-certified contractor must show the certificate to the Building Official before contracting in the county or in Vero Beach, and many replacement jobs, including fences, roofs and HVAC systems, need a permit.
The County also notes that owners of an owner-occupied single-family home may do their own work, or supervise their own employees, without a contractor license, but they still need the permit and fees. And it's unlawful to advertise a regulated trade without a local certificate of competency or state license, which matters for how you word your website.
