Fort Pierce's Certificate of Use system
Fort Pierce stopped collecting Business Tax Receipts on July 1, 2024. Under Ordinance 24-019, every business in city limits now needs a Certificate of Use instead. Only one Certificate is needed per business location, and it renews each year on the anniversary of the application.
Certificates of Use, contractor licenses and permits all go through the City's Enterprise Permitting & Licensing (EPL) system. The old Click2Gov system stopped working on February 1, 2026, so older permits are handled by contacting the Building Department.
