Contractor Website Design in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Fort Lauderdale is the largest of Broward's 31 cities, laced with 165 miles of waterways and, by the city's own description, highly vulnerable to king tides and sea-level rise. Contractors here build seawalls, elevate homes and renovate waterfront property for owners with high home values. We build the website that shows that work, then host it and keep it running.

A high-value, waterfront market

The Census Bureau estimates Fort Lauderdale's population at 188,677 as of July 1, 2025, with 80,999 households. 54.1% of homes are owner-occupied, the median home value is $486,700, the median household income is $83,130, and 19.6% of residents are 65 or older. The city describes a diversified economy spanning marine, manufacturing, finance, real estate, aerospace and film, and 165 miles of inland waterways.

Clients at these values expect a contractor site that looks like the work: finished waterfront projects, named materials, a clear process. Short write-ups beside each photo matter more here than anywhere.

Broward licensing and the city portal

Broward County's Building Code Division handles county contractor licensing and issues Certificates of Competency through its contractor packet, with an examining board calendar; it also takes complaints on county-licensed and unlicensed contractors. In the city, contractors register as licensed professionals, apply for permits and handle business tax receipts through LauderBuild, the city's online portal. A city Local Business Tax Receipt is required for most businesses and is separate from the Broward County receipt, which the county tax collector requires of every business in Broward. From October 1, 2026, a Certificate of Use is required before applying for the city receipt.

Florida separates certified contractors, who may work statewide, from registered ones limited to approved jurisdictions. State your license type and number, your Broward certificate if you hold one, and link to DBPR's search.

King tides, seawalls and elevation

The city says Fort Lauderdale is highly vulnerable to king tides and sea-level rise because of its low elevation and extensive waterways, and that a high water table after rain raises localized flooding risk. Broward County reports that the average temperature is 3.7°F warmer than a century ago, maintains regional seawall standards for future sea level, and expects high-tide flooding to accelerate. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30.

If you build seawalls, raise homes or do flood-resistant renovations, that work deserves its own page. It's what this city's owners search for, and the county's own standards give you something factual to explain.

Why licensed, in the client's terms

Florida's Construction Recovery Fund can reimburse a homeowner who can't collect a judgment against a licensed contractor, but it's unavailable when the contractor was unlicensed at contract time. Unlicensed contracting is a crime, and a felony after a declared state of emergency. Licensed contractors file an insurance affidavit and complete continuing education every two years. A short section explaining this gives a client a reason to choose the licensed bid.
