Cocoa Beach ground rules
Cocoa Beach needs a Business Tax Receipt from anyone offering goods or services to the public, and you need one for every place of business, commercial or residential. The City's starting-a-business page says you'll need a Brevard County receipt as well.
Applications go online through the City's OpenGov portal at Development Services. Every original application carries a non-refundable $10 fee, and the tax itself depends on the type of business.
Home businesses are tightly limited. They're allowed only for mail, phone calls, and bookkeeping or admin work. Anything that brings in customer traffic or employs people who don't live in the home isn't permitted.
Commercial locations need a Certificate of Use. The application asks for the owner's details, an emergency contact, a business description, an SSN or EIN, your fictitious name or incorporation papers, any state license numbers with expiration dates, and insurance type. The City also points out that you receive a tax receipt, not a license.
Beach-town trades
- Vacation rental cleaning Turnover crews run from home can only do office work there. Supplies and staging belong elsewhere, and your site handles the bookings.
- Handyman The home rules allow only phone and paperwork at the house. Show your service area and let customers book online.
- Marine services A boat-service shop counts as a commercial location and needs a Certificate of Use. List your dock or yard address clearly.
- Impact windows List your state license number and its expiration date. The City application asks for both, so display them on your site too.
