New portal, same rules
Forest Park is in Clayton County, and the city now takes all new permitting, planning and business license applications through its OpenGov portal, starting October 5, 2026. Renewals become available there on November 1, 2026. Cases filed in the old Tyler portal before October 3 are still being processed.
Before you lease, the city recommends a zoning verification, which costs $75 and is submitted online; you get an email approving or denying it. Each new occupational tax application carries an annual $75 nonrefundable administrative fee. You estimate gross receipts and employees for the rest of the year, and the estimate is replaced with actual figures at renewal.
Your business counts as open when you apply, but you can't operate until you receive the paid certificate, which must be posted where the public can see it. The old Tyler public portal no longer accepts applications, and the city scheduled an OpenGov business license workshop for October 20. Applicants should also check whether their trade needs a state license before applying.
