Assisted living website design & SEO in California

City pages for California residential care facilities for the elderly, starting with the 30 address cities where the state list shows the most licensed homes, from Sacramento, San Diego and Fresno to Mission Viejo, Granada Hills and Antioch.

How it started

A page for every place, first tested in another industry

We built this structure for All Pro Restroom Trailers, a Florida dealer: a page for each state plus DC and a page for each major city, so a buyer searching anywhere landed on a page about their own area.

289pages live: 234 city pages and 51 state hubs
7quote requests in 8 weeks
6buyer locations: FL, NC, TX, AL, MD, DC

The best-known result: the Maryland Jockey Club found All Pro on its Maryland page and requested a formal $32,499 quote, and Mallory Safety / OMNIA Partners reached out about corporate purchasing.

Figures from our All Pro Restroom Trailers project (allprorestroomtrailers.com). Inquiries were quote requests, not closed sales.

People choosing care in California search the same way, by city and by neighborhood, so the California pages start where the state list is busiest.

California specifics

What a California RCFE should make clear

The state list shows 7,962 licensed residential care facilities for the elderly with a combined licensed capacity of 208,746. 6,275 are licensed for six or fewer residents and 1,366 for sixteen or more. Source: California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly open data (licensed and on-probation facilities by address city; data as of May 25, 2025, the newest public file), read Nov 1, 2026

Say "RCFE" and "board and care"

California's license is a residential care facility for the elderly. Many people search "board and care," so use both terms if they fit your home.

Most homes are small

Nearly four in five licensed RCFEs are licensed for six or fewer residents. Say how many people you serve and what a day looks like.

The waiver is county by county

Medi-Cal's Assisted Living Waiver runs in 15 counties only, does not pay room and board and has a waitlist. Mention it only if you are an enrolled provider.

Shared town names

Concord, Orange, Lancaster, Antioch and Riverside all share names with places in other states. Use "CA" on your page and profile.

Licensing sources: California Health and Safety Code section 1569.2 (RCFE definition; CDSS as licensing department); DHCS, Assisted Living Waiver (eligibility, 15 counties, room and board, waitlist, Care Coordination Agencies); CDSS Community Care Licensing facilities open data. Read Nov 1, 2026.

The template

Every example runs on Assisted Living (Premium)

Each city page links to an invented sample care home on the Assisted Living (Premium) template (STH-ALF-031). Common questions

What California owners ask us

Why build a page for every California city?

People search by town: "board and care Mission Viejo" or "memory care Fresno," not "assisted living California." A page for each place you serve gives Google an exact match. That structure brought our All Pro client quote requests from six states.

Who licenses assisted living in California?

The California Department of Social Services, through its Community Care Licensing Division, licenses residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFEs), the state's license for assisted living and board and care homes.

What is a residential care facility for the elderly?

Under Health and Safety Code section 1569.2, a housing arrangement chosen voluntarily by people 60 or older, or their representative, where varying levels of care and supervision, protective supervision or personal care are provided based on their needs. People under 60 with compatible needs may be admitted in some cases.

What is a board and care home?

The everyday name for a small RCFE in a house. In the state list, 6,275 of 7,962 licensed RCFEs are licensed for six or fewer residents.

Can we say we accept Medi-Cal?

Only if it is true. Medi-Cal's Assisted Living Waiver covers care for eligible members in licensed settings, but it runs in only 15 counties, participants pay the facility for their own room and board, and there is a waitlist. We never say you take waiver residents unless you are an enrolled provider.
